Oktoberfest
The love and support shown for Sherlake on Saturday September 28th was truly inspiring. Over 100 people gathered al fresco while the Foster family delighted everyone with a beautiful performance. Master of Ceremony John Haser guided the evening, starting with Board President, Somarly Avila, giving welcome remarks followed by Executive Director, Julie Barder, speaking on the mission of Sherlake. Mariana Madigan, a young professional, wife and mother, concluded the speaking portion of the evening with a moving testimonial on the impact Sherlake has had on her since her high school years.

Interchange Conference
This month almost 60 high school girls from around the Midwest (and beyond!) gathered for the annual Interchange Conference hosted at Shellbourne Conference Center. The girls, who regularly attend Opus Dei activities, heard from keynote speaker Molly Powers on the theme of Hidden Potential: The Art of Embracing Resilience. The weekend was full of discussions, time for reflection, bonding activities, and lots and lots of fun!

Super-Natural Health
The Art of Living for Women hosted a wonderful Saturday morning event, “Super-Natural Health” in Park Ridge on September 14. Dr. Amelia Kurkowski, inspired all to understand the value of good nutrition in mind, body and soul. Everyone enjoyed the delicious nutritious buffet of food.

Service Saturday
High school girls attended Sherlake's Service Saturday on September 21 bringing company and food to immigrants and homeless people. After this the girls returned to Sherlake for some deep cleaning and gardening projects.
August
Service Trip to Colorado
Early in August, a group of Sherlake 11th and 12th graders went to Colorado for a Service Trip. The girls volunteered with projects at three isolated parishes around the town of Cuchara supporting in this way the local Church. They also served the homeless in Denver through Christ in the City. Taking advantage of the beautiful scenery the group spent some time exploring the mountains, dunes, and lakes of the area. Lastly, the girls dove deeply into the study of the cardinal virtues through readings and discussions on this topic.

College Application Work Day
A group of senior students gathered on August 31 at Forest Glen Center to spend the day working on their college applications. Marlo Trocchio Serritella a skilled writer and a lawyer who currently works for the Office of Admissions for Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, led a morning session on "College Essay Writing: Finding your Voice" and later spent time assisting the girls one on one.
